It's always funny to check out that website. They act like a bunch of scolded children.
WIESENTHAL CENTER URGES U.S. CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS TO DEMAND THAT EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT MUBARAK AND HIS NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY DENOUNCE AND DISASSOCIATE THEMSELVES FROM HOLOCAUST DENIAL
The Simon Wiesenthal Center is urging the leadership of the US Senate Foreign Relations and the House Committee on International Relations to demand that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his ruling National Democratic Party publicly denounce and disassociate themselves from a two-part series in the Party’s newspaper, Al-Liwaa Al-Islami which promotes Holocaust denial. The article, “The Lie About the Burning of the Jews” denies that Jews were gassed during the Nazi Holocaust.
“This two-part screed (as translated by MEMRI www.memri.org) lists as its sources Roger Garaudy, Paul Rassinier, and Arthur R. Butz, so-called ‘Holocaust Revisionists’ in order to increase the hatred of Jewish people, demonize Israel and her Zionist supporters and desecrate the memory of the victims of Nazism,” charged Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean of the Wiesenthal Center.
“We are asking US Congressional leaders, Richard Lugar and Joseph Biden of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and Henry Hyde and Tom Lantos of the House Committee on International Relations, to demand that Egyptian President Mubarak and his Party publicly denounce and disassociate themselves from this big lie,” continued Cooper.
In a separate communication to Egyptian Ambassador to the US, Nabil Fahmy, Rabbi Cooper wrote, “As Americans, we are very familiar with Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press. However, when confronted by hate speech, we expect our leaders to denounce such manifestations. We expect President Mubarak to do the same.”
In recent years, official government organs in Arab countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria and some Gulf states have embraced and promoted classic antisemitic canards including the medieval ‘blood libel’ and various conspiracy theories that link Israel to 9/11 and other terrorist outrages including last year’s bombing of synagogues in Turkey
