AMSTERDAM — There was a slight decline in the number of anti-Semitic incidents in the Netherlands in the past 12 months to May, compared with the pervious period, according to a new report.
The Centre for Information and Documentation on Israel in The Hague (CIDI) has been compiling reports on anti-Semitism in the Netherlands since 1974.
The report issued in 2003 indicated a 140 percent increase in incidents on the 2002 report. The CIDI had said in the 2003 report that the number of anti-Semitic incidents had been climbing since 2000 and the nature of the incidents was increasing in seriousness.
But the latest report shows the number of incidents has fallen about 7.5 percent and the number of serious incidents — including violence, threatening behaviour and damage to Jewish monuments and synagogues — was also down. . . .
