How often, if at all, do you consume alcohol? For a change, this poll isn't public.

I voted for option #3. I actually drink about 2-3 times per month (maybe twice that during the summer). This evening I consumed a 24 oz. bottle of Beck's, due to the fact that I got a sudden and intense craving for the taste of beer (not for the psychoactive effect of alcohol, which was minimal anyway). Ordinarily, I only drink in social settings (albeit not just at ones as infrequent as weddings, holidays, etc.)
I'm not a big fan of alcohol, frankly, although I do enjoy the whole connesieur (sic?) groove amongst the various varieties of beer, wine and whiskey. Gin should only be used to clean your bhong (I've actually done that, by the way). If you absolutely MUST drink gin, then please do us all a favor and restrict yourself to Bombay Sapphire. Thanks.

Hey, I happen to like gin.
Then please limit yourself to Bombay Saphire.
Seriously, the gin & tonic is a perfectly respectable drink (plus the quinine helps ward off malaria, in the event whomever reads this is a Rhodesian farmer and thus might benefit from that info). Martinis strikes me as liquid torture devices. I'm prejudiced against gin for the reason that I don't think an alcohol that one can only drink mixed (and please don't tell me you drink gin straight) is entirely proper.

Now HERE'S an idea for a poll!
Which fruit juice-and-vodka drink do you prefer?
1: Screwdriver(s) (made with orange juice, for the uninitiated)
2: Greyhound(s) (grapefruit juice)
Oh, and if you want to win my undying admiration and respect, can anyone tell me the origin of the Earthly forerunner of the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster, i.e. the Diddlebock?
No fair using Google (although I'm not even sure Google could give you the answer to this odd question, at least not without more info).

I'm a beer snob who usually drinks a top shelf microbrew or import a few times a week but I rarely get drunk.
Favorites include:
Boddington's
Guinness
Stone (their Arrogant Bastard brew is wicked)
Tetley's
Bass/Newcastle etc.

I prefer vodka or scotch (and for those, Stolichnaya and Chivas Regal, respectively), though for beers I like Guinness and Bass. On some occasions, Murphy's.
As for Newcastle Brown, I suspect it is made with the famed coals of Newcastle. Bad stuff.

I drink when out to dinner, or dancing in a club, holiday get-togethers. I guess when you average it out I drink about once a week. I pretty much only drink vodka when I'm out, usually Ketel One (Grey Goose if I can't get Ketel). At family gatherings, I'll have wine sometimes.

I consume a beer or two frequently as an appetite stimulant before dinner. Of course, I only drink high quality microbrews such as the following.

Since this poll is not public, I am just waiting to see if anyone will actually choose the alcoholic option, or the several times per week that may suggest a problem. :D

I used to drink crappy American lager all the time, but I haven't been drunk in over a year. I do get drunk about once a year or less, for the last five years or so.
When I do drink, it's either Jaegermeister or Imperial Stout(totally opaque stout heavy on the carmelized grains, licorice and ~15%abv).

It's overhyped yuppie vodkas. Since when the French or the Dutch could do decent vodka? Real stuff comes from Eastern Europe :D

I was shooting Cristall late one night (3 a.m.) with a musician friend at Amberjacks in New Orleans after a gig when the bartender suggested that we try Ketel One. We both agreed that we liked it better than Cristall.
So what would you suggest that is usually AVAILABLE in most clubs or package liquor stores?

Arguably my single favorite alcoholic beverage is a sort of highly expensive, very sweet, raspberry-flavored Belgian ale mixed with an equal portion of Guinness Extra Stout. I don't remember what its called, but they also make cherry and peach-flavored varieties, but cherry always reminds me of medicine, and peaches are for females.

I started out drinking Stoli, then Cristall. I was drinking Cristall one night with a friend (see edit to my previous post) when we tried Ketel One, and liked it better. And please don't imply that I've jumped on the 'vogue vodka' dancetrain. I've been drinking Ketel One since the early 90s now, since before most people even knew it was around. I'll follow a lot of clothing trends, but I'm pretty alcohol loyal! :D

Based on Lambic? I know what you're talking about. The cherry flavoured version is my favourite beer. It's the same brewery. Probably labeled Kriek or Lambic there.

Stoli/Absolut/Finlandia are classic solid choices, and are time-proven ;) They are from the countries where people know their vodka. Too much in the vodka market is about marketing, because it's supposed to be pure (they do add some stuff to make it smoother, but that's very minor).

At 3 a.m. you were able to tell any difference? If you started drinking it from the early 90s, that means it took them a decade of marketing campaign to position their overpriced crap in the forefront.
The latest fad is some Blackvod (black vodka) I spotted at Costco :D

Rare social drinker.
Alcohol passes my lips maybe five or six times a year.
If not for that and premarital sex, I would be considered one of those "straight edge" types.

But a teetotaler is a person who doesn't drink alcohol. I was just wondering how you don't drink alcohol and somehow avoid being a teetotaler by definition.

Remember, for a musician, 3 a.m. is the middle of the working day. Wake up about 6-7 p.m., arrive to set up about 8-9 p.m., start playing in the 9-10 p.m. range, finish the gig anywhere from 1-2 a.m., tear down, relax after work about 3-4 a.m., eat something when most people are heading to their 9 to 5 then off to get some sleep while the rat race goes on.
Possibly something is added to Ketel to make it smoother, don't know, don't really care, it agrees with me for whatever reason. Nothing wrong with Stoli, I drank it for years before stumbling on Ketel (actually, when I was playing music in New Orleans, I drank myself into an ulcer....go figure, but I knew I couldn't keep that up for long, lesson learned). I haven't tried Blackvod. I'm really not big on change or trying new things as far as my liquor goes. If it hadn't been for that night, I would probably still prefer Cristall.
Lately a few times a week. When I have a beer I usually drink Coors and occasionally Budweiser. Lately I stop by a brew pub on my commute home every other day. I think it was Thursday I had one too many screwdrivers. I took a shot of Stolis too. I was watching the Ali vs/ Mepner fight (1975) on ESPN and stayed there a while. I got on the highway and immediately got off the next exit. I went into a mexican restaurant and sat for an hour sipping ice tea and eating chips and salsa.

In my early twenties I drank beer like a fish. Rarely a day went by I wasn't drunk. I have never liked hard liquor though. Now in my late twenties (27 currently) I almost never drink alcohol. If on some rare occasion I actually head into town with a buddy I might have two beers at the most and that is very very rare now-a-days.
Most of my time now is spent out in the rural parts of the Pacific North-West Imperative Region with White people (spoken off by David Duke and the late great Rev. Richard Butler) where I am preparing as a Lone Wolf for the final inevitable Red-Dawn like struggle against the jack-booted thugs of the R.O.G. (www.davidicke.com/icke/articles2/rothschild-gv.html) so there is little time for social drinking during my current training cycle.

Last year I'd drink a 700mL bottle of Smirnoff (37.5% alcohol) once a week undiluted over a period of three to four hours. I haven't touched alcohol (apart from the occasional beer my dad offers) since new years. That will probably change Friday though. I plan on buying a case of Jim Beam.

I just had a bottle of dubbel the other night. Great stuff, my only complaint is the thin texture, although the sparkling wine-like finish more than makes up for it.
I've got a bottle of Ommegang in the fridge right now.

Last year I got drunk off of cheap college beer once a week, usually naty light. Sometimes beast or beast light. Now that I'm 21, I dont drink as nearly as often as I used to. I'm big on physical fitness and alchohol is just added calories that can wreck my diet. I'm not completely against drinking though, I will occasionally go to the bars, usually twice a month, and have a few beers. I tend to say mean things, even to people I love and care about, when I am hammered, so I decided to stop getting trashed when I drink.
My favorite beer to sit back and chill with would have to be Rolling Rock, brewed not far from here in Latrobe PA. Sam Adams isnt half bad either. I had Becks for the first time down at Deep Creek, Maryland this summer, was pretty good too.
I liked hard liqour in highschool because it was quick to get drunk off of, and easy to hide (only one bottle to conceal from parents), but now I rarely touch the stuff.
Only thing I can stand drinking is straight Whiskey. I regret it the next day though because it makes me sick to my stomach and gives me terrible heart burn. Beer tastes like soda water and piss mixed together. Wish I liked it though, cheap and everybody else drinks it.

I have only been intoxicated twice in my life: once, by accident, at the age of eight (I did not know there was alcohol in the punch); once at the age of eleven (and I didn't enjoy it).
Of course, I am only now approaching the age of eighteen. But I do not plan on drinking alcohol in the future. For I dislike the taste.

No way man! Whiskey makes me "Time Travel", but I never have a hang over the next day. Usually I drink cheap plastic bottle shit like Old Crow, but I'll have the occasional Jameson or Bushmill's. Try Old Grandad 114 for some shit that'll knock you on your ass.
The beers I like are:
MILLER HIGH LIFE
Lonestar
MGD
and Miller Lite (if there's nothing else at the bar)
