I don't know where this list comes from, but some of this is utter nonsense. John Steinbeck and Bruce Springsteen are not Jewish, and I have to take a list that includes "Bageleattin' Backstabbers" with more than a grain of salt. I wouldn't by any means call this an authoritative list.

Ringo Starr - Beatles drummer.

I think they are adding anyone with a big nose, or in some cases people with Central and Eastern European sounding names.

I wouldn't by any means call this an authoritative list.

Agreed. The list is divided between can't-miss-'em Jews and people for whom there is no evidence of Jewish ancestry whatsoever.

Googling on some of the names, this list and other sites that reference it are the only indication of Jewish ancestry to be found. I can't say I'm impressed.

John Steinbeck? Joy Division?

C'mon. This list is too dependant on rumor and unfamiliarity with Central European names, as robinder says. It should be cleaned up.

I am also skeptical of Buzz Aldrin's presumed Jewishness.

Reinhold Elstner

Buzz Aldrin? Highly unlikely. Also, someone please tell me that Iggy Pop should NOT be on this list.

That is hard to ascertain, his "real" name is Osterberg, which might be Jewish, but I have never seen definitive proof that he is Jewish.

Olivia Newton-John is jewish?

I heard her say that she was related to Isaac Newton -- a gentile, of course.

(BTW, she certainly doesn't look jewish.)
