What type of "culture" aesthetically appeals to you, what do you consider "high culture".

And whats the extreme appeal of "American Psycho"?

The movie and the book fascinates me, as Bateman possesses no essential 'self' or 'character', but instead, multiple selves that manifest from time to time in different situations. I can relate to that, although that was not the intention of the author.

For me (since I am convinced that thought is relational as opposed to essential), 'high culture' is only intelligible in terms of its antithesis, which I would designate as 'popular culture'. Popular culture likewise has no essence, only certain prominent characterstics that strike me as significant. Its rather crude, unsophisticated, vulgar, massively consumed and so on. It is not so much something that one can describe with words as one much experience first hand. It can better be expressed by 'showing it' with images.
