I have spent the last week trying to fix the old board. The host has installed backup after backup after backup. None of them seems to have worked. So there you have it. We are starting from scratch again (barring some miracle).

I did manage to find out who has been deleting the board all these times and how they were doing it. Its some group of Arabs called 'XP10_Hackers'. They have destroyed a lot of vBs lately and there has been a lot of discussion about it over at the vbulletin forums this week. They were always able to take this board down because they were exploiting a flaw in the vB2 software. They were able to get in through the calender and delete everything. The new version of vB (which we are on now) fixes this problem. I will post more in detail about this later (my conversations with the host and vbulletin) in case anyone wants to know what I have been up to in the last several days or so.

We still have about 3/4ths of the old posts in the old database. The problem is that a template was deleted so I am having trouble porting them over. Several people at vB (who were also attacked) have had this problem. I am still trying to find out if there is anyway I can dump them into the archives here.

Is the vulnerability fixed in all vB3 versions or only the newest one? I'm wondering as a forum admin more than anything else (Yoderanium is running one of the older 3.0 release candidates.)

Typical mudslum mentality.

The hacker was always able to bust up our site because we were always on the vB2. All vB3 versions should be fine, as far as I know.

You should have installed VB3 earlier. That's what you get for procrastinating. :p :D
