Most of our members find their way here from other websites and forums. However, in order to really grow, we must make our presence on the internet really felt, for instance, we must increase the number of new members that find their way here off of search engines. There are several advertising programs I have recently seen that deal with this sort of thing, like AdWords on Google. Lets suppose you were trying to find a forum like this one by using a search engine. What keywords would you enter into the searchbox? I am especially looking for non-English keywords, as Google will let you tailor you advertisements to specific countries and regions.

Examples: Nationalism, Nationalist Forum

Does anyone find forums via Google? Admittedly, I've only posted regularly on and 'known' people from four large-ish boards, but neither I nor anyone I've known has googled for a board or set out to find somewhere to post. In my experience, people tend to drift into posting by accident - for instance, by discovering that a news outlet or band or whatever has a forum linked from their website and investigating that. Furthermore, supposing the advertising were successful, a big influx of n00bs could be very detrimental to any attempt at creating a particular board ethos - as with any immigrants, some period of acculturation will probably be necessary. A gradual expansion via to word of mouth would probably be the most manageable option and also that most likely to attract long term members with something interesting to say. If, as you've said elsewhere, you want to avoid filling the board with acelords or 1488WhItEpRiDe alternacaps idiots, you may find that using generic keywords like 'nationalism' will simply bring you a deluge that you'll have to spend some time cleaning up (you may get some useful posters who're sick and tired of stormfront or whatever, but equally, you might start getting their refuse). On the other hand, if you go for something too highbrow/obscure (Communitarianism, anyone?), you'll get maybe two hits a year.

Probably took too much space to say too little, but the bottom line is that I think buying advertising would be a waste of your money at this point.

Panem et circenses?

Seriously, i would prefer a forum with 10 intelligent people than with a million retards. Of course, just my personal opinion. http://thephora.org/images/smilies/tongue.gif

You are spliting my threads there? I didn't notice... I wonder what have to be splitted in the History section, since not many people read it, moreover reply to the threads i create! I'm just an ignored soul. http://thephora.org/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

But no problem, I've splitted some thread of yours too, so we are even. http://thephora.org/images/smilies/wink.gif

Btw, too bad you are not the Splitmeister here, this thread ought to be splitted. http://thephora.org/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I split all replies to your History-threads to the soap opera forum. That´s the reason why it was created in the first place :D

::Does anyone find forums via Google?

Yes.

::Furthermore, supposing the advertising were successful, a big influx of n00bs could be very detrimental to any attempt at creating a particular board ethos - as with any immigrants, some period of acculturation will probably be necessary.

I agree. We would have to filter out the good from the bad, of course.

:: A gradual expansion via to word of mouth would probably be the most manageable option and also that most likely to attract long term members with something interesting to say.

That is the way most people have found their way here. The problem with this is that it does not really increase the overall size of our community, as it is pretty much just the same people posting at different boards. To really expand our community, to grow vertically instead of horizontally, we must bring new people in. I am also convinced that there are a lot of intelligent people out there who would post here, but do not register simply because they cannot locate our board. The constant crashing of the board and the puerile garbage in the old Hell forum did not help matters either. It is my understanding that the new vB3 has fixed that security flaw for good, however.

:: If, as you've said elsewhere, you want to avoid filling the board with acelords or 1488WhItEpRiDe alternacaps idiots, you may find that using generic keywords like 'nationalism' will simply bring you a deluge that you'll have to spend some time cleaning up (you may get some useful posters who're sick and tired of stormfront or whatever, but equally, you might start getting their refuse).

We don't want idiots or trolls here anymore, racist or anti-racist, period. So yeah, simply using keywords like 'nationalism' could very well bring in such an influx. On the other hand, if we do not advertise the board in some manner, we are also missing out on a large audience of intelligent people who would otherwise post and contribute here.

::On the other hand, if you go for something too highbrow/obscure (Communitarianism, anyone?), you'll get maybe two hits a year.

Yes. Most people have never heard of communitarianism.

Alright. Its done. Our ads should start working soon. I am going to try this out for a month. If it increases our traffic, then I will continue it.

Keywords:

Nationalistisch
Nationalismus
Rassenbewußt
National Socialism
Nationalist
Nationalism
Racialism
Racialist
White Nationalism
White Nationalist
le nationalisme
nacionalista
nationalisme
Nationalist Forum
Race Forum
nazionalismo
white race
εθνικισμός
национализм

I need more keywords, especially in the Scandinavian and Slavic languages. The only ad I have up at the moment (well, it should be up soon) is the English one, although those keywords should bring it up. I plan on creating several more: in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Croatian and Russian to start with. More later.

FadeTheButcher

I don't think so. You can choose a bunch of keywords and set your daily budget so you are charged a maximum per day. Lets suppose you were a Dutch speaker trying to find a forum like this. What keywords would you type into a search engine? I can even target certain ads to specific countries and areas. 'Nationalist' gets about nine hits per day. 'Nationalism' gets about 25 hits per day. The other keywords get significantly less traffic. I am not aware of any other board like ours that advertises like this, not even Stormfront (which most people find using Google), in spite of all the money it makes from its sustaining member program. This should tremendously increase our traffic. If all goes well, then I might set up some kind of paypal system. People could send money to that account and I could use it to buy more ads and increase the amount of money spent on advertising every day.

For obvious reasons, utterly contradictory. Almost all Nationalists are retards (think Skadi).

How about aesthetics, phenomenology, postmodernism, deconstruction ... ?

FadeTheButcher
08-03-2004, 03:30 AM
I will add those. I will probably make separate adds from the History and Philosophy forums. For instance, I can make an add that would pop up whenever one types in 'WW2 History Forum' or simply 'History Forum'. Likewise, I can tailor an ad to specific groups with keywords like 'phenomenology forum'.
