Total mystery. Gestation period is 7-9 months and I've had her in solitary captivity for a little over a year and a half. I woke up this morning and went over to the tank, and lo and behold, scorplings. There are three on her back and underneath her front left foot was a small pile of about 4-6. She has already eaten two. The ones too weak to climb up on her back get eaten. Since this was an abnormal gestation and a small litter (average is 9-32) I would imagine that she will eat all of them, though four are currently on her back. We shall see.

The ones that aren't strong enough to get on the back are eaten?
I think we should criticize the scorpion population and their bigoted practices of eugenics! :p

Did you ever own a male scorpion too?

How else would the female get pregnant?

Parthenogenesis. 'Tis known to occur in only a few species of scorpion, though.

Well, that is a rather stinging accusation! Have any evidence (in picture format, preferably)?

I'm guessing parthenogenesis since it is the only logical explanation. Never had a male and had it over twice as long as the gestation period.
